We all know we live in a beautiful and special place. Our San Francisco Bay and the creeks the feed into it nourish our souls, soils, and economy. And what better way to give back to an ecosystem that has given us so much, than to spend Coastal Cleanup Day with friends and family and help make our Bay cleaner and healthier? International Coastal Cleanup Day brings volunteers across the world together to raise awareness of marine debris. Last year 59,000 volunteers all over California joined together to pick up 710,000 pounds of trash and recyclables, resulting in fewer tons of trash in our creeks and shorelines. You too can make a difference!
The Watershed Project has two Coastal Cleanup Day sites to choose from, and we would love to see you there on Saturday, September 16th.
Peninsula Drive and Marina Bay Pkwy, Richmond CA
September 16, 2017
9am – 12pm

Join The Watershed Project, Supervisor John Gioia, and the City of Richmond at Shimada Friendship Park on the shoreline of the Bay. Volunteers will walk the Bay Trail and the edge of the salt marsh picking up trash and debris. All materials are provided, but bring your own reusable items – plastic baskets, bags, gloves and water bottles – if you can. We always aim to make this event as waste free as possible. Wear boots or shoes that can get dirty.
There will be a free BBQ at noon to celebrate the hard work of dedicated volunteers!
