The Watershed Project is joining SPAWNERS’ regular restoration workday to monitor water
quality at Wilkie Creek and better understand the health of the creek. Volunteers will help with
invasive plant and trash removal, and learn about water quality at Wilkie Creek.
Event Schedule
9:30 AM – 11:00 AM – Restoration Work
Join SPAWNERS monthly volunteer workday at our Wilkie Creek outdoor classroom and
restoration site! We will be weeding, mulching, picking up trash, and potentially planting
(weather dependent). Tools, water, and snacks will be provided! All ages and abilities are
welcome.
SPAWNERS has worked with volunteers and students at this site for over 10 years! You can learn
about the site location and history here.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Water Quality Monitoring Workshop
Directly following SPAWNERS’ workday, join The Watershed Project’s Environmental Monitoring Coordinator
Satoko Mills for a community water quality monitoring workshop at Wilkie Creek! The Watershed Project will
provide all necessary tools and instruction. Participants can try their hands at water quality
monitoring, discuss what we measure and why, and learn more about how we keep our
waterways clean!
Tools, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sturdy shoes
and be prepared to get dirty and wet! All ages and abilities are welcome! Minors should bring a
signed waiver, available here.
