Oyster Reef Ball Monitoring in April 2022
April 19 @ 7:30 am - 11:30 am
We are excited to share this event in April! We will have an Oyster Reef Ball Monitoring at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline to see and count the oysters on the reef balls and observe their environment. Over the course of several years, volunteers built 100 reef balls which were deployed in 2013 as substrate for the native Olympia oyster. Twice a year we go out and survey everything that’s growing on the reef balls, including algae, oysters and other invertebrates.
Due to the tide schedule in the spring we’ll be heading out in the morning. We provide waders, but you’ll want to dress in layers (depending on the weather but morning is still cold, mid-day is warm, and there is no shade in the ocean!), a hat and bring a water bottle. No experience is necessary, but spots are limited so please sign up below. If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com for more information.
Children are welcome, but MUST be accompanied by an adult and those under 18 require a waiver signed by a legal guardian.
